The Porsche 718 Cayman, released in 2021, delivers the same emotional and physical thrill of driving as supercars. Together with its convertible counterpart, the 718 Boxster, this coupe offers unequaled driver involvement among sports vehicles. The otherworldly chassis of the Porsche Cayman allows for free interaction between the driver, the car, and the track. Porsche combines powerful brakes, unflustered suspension, and a steering mechanism with a lot of input to create the 718. Perfect automatic and manual transmissions and robust engines, particularly the melodious flat-six, round out the picture.
While the 2021 Porsche Cayman is more expensive than its outstanding competitors, the Chevy Corvette and Toyota Supra remain the segment’s most focused and enjoyable options.
The Porsche Cayman T, which joins four other models in Porsche’s mid-engine 718 coupe lineup: the basic Porsche Cayman, S, GTS 4.0, and GT4, has just gone on sale in the U.s. as a late-2020 model.

It’s also a budget-friendly dish—well, budget-friendly by Porsche norms you can practically replicate by ordering the components separately.
What’s Unique for the Year 2021?
For 2021, Porsche adds an Apple CarPlay connection, auto-dimming rear reflectors, bi-xenon lights that rotate with the steering column, and dual-zone temperature controls to the Porsche Cayman.
In addition, a new model has been added to the lineup:
The Porsche Cayman GTS is equipped with a normally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine.
This engine is also used in the GT4 RS. However, it produces 29 fewer horsepower in the GTS, for a maximum of 394.
Furthermore, Porsche seven-speed double automatic is now compatible with the six-cylinder engine.
In comparison to the previous model year, all Porsche models in 2021 will have a price increase.
(Porsche, for example, is charging $2400 extra for the baseline model.)
The 350-hp four-cylinder S version was previously recommended, and it’s still the top performance deal. Still, now that the flat-six is available in a less extreme configuration than the GT4 RS, we can’t deny it’s the one we’d prefer.
We’d also maintain the primary manual gearbox because it’s more enjoyable to drive than the automatic, and it may be retired this year.
Every GTS also comes with a snorty exhaust pipe, a responsive sport-tuned suspension, and dark 20-inch wheels, as well as other desirable performance features like the positionable and nicely reinforced Sport Seats. - Thankfully, Porsche will cover almost any surface with leather—at a premium. The Porsche’s back storage room is complemented by a tiny front trunk, giving the little sports car freight space to rival the finest of its competitors. In the truck, we were able to accommodate two carry-on baggage and two in the trunk.
- Due to the steep rear-hatch angle, buyers must use soft garbage bags to get the most of the limited space.
PCM with Touch display:
- A 7-inch touchscreen panel is featured in Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
